Key Responsibilities:
• Within the Packaging Design team you will be translating consumer insights into original, creative and enticing packaging concepts that delight consumers and fulfill customer requirements.
• Within a Category led cross-functional project team, you will develop a functional structural prototype with associated material specifications which will be further developed and launched by the Packaging Commercialisation team.
• As a Category business partner you will view packaging as a business tool leveraging design to create novel solutions that differentiate and act as barrier to entry for competitors via Intellectual property rights as well as providing input and advice towards business model proposals.
• Leverages creative and engineering strengths internally and externally to create breakthrough pack solutions especially via Open Innovation
• Participates as core member of cross-functional teams across a number of projects, with due consideration to inputs required to model Profit and Loss assumptions.
• Uses technical and business knowledge to influence commercial, supply chain and purchasing in strategic decision-making process.
• Identifies and evaluates opportunities for driving brand growth, increasing pack quality and increasing company profits through creative, original pack design and processes.
• Develops and maintains subject knowledge through all possible routes
• Ensures that all activities are carried out with due regard to Corporate Policies and applicable legislation.
Candidate Requirements:
• Structural design experience coupled with knowledge of materials is necessary.
• FMCG / Packaging experience is an advantage.
• Able to demonstrate working knowledge of structural design principles coupled with aptitude for creative problem solving
• Qualification in Industrial Design / Packaging / Engineering / Science / Technology
• Proven track record of delivering projects in collaboration with S&T colleagues to meet commercial, supply chain and purchasing requirements.
• Knowledge of commercial and technical aspects of packaging production and use.
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues in a concise and simple manner
• Experience of working in cross-functional teams and motivating others to deliver project deadlines.
• Ability to initiate and drive developments to completion against testing timescales.
• Highly motivated individual with strong influencing skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and creativity.
• Excellent ability to plan, organise and prioritise activity.
• Good numerical ability.
• Proficient in English
