| Job Description: |
Key Responsibilities:
• To establish and maintain a good knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical packaging artwork trends, software and systems, quality issues, packaging supply chain developments and company products, working closely with external designers and suppliers, to identify opportunities for packaging artwork improvements.
• To co-ordinate and manage an optimised and consistent process for the production, co-ordination and approval of packaging artwork by:
- Analysing artwork production and delivery effectiveness, identifying performance and process optimisation, and providing job performance indicators as required.
- Writing and maintaining site process SOPs in compliance with internal audits.
- Rationalising, standardising and gaining agreement for packaging artwork SKUs (Stock Keeping Units)/BOMs (Bill of Materials), monitoring performance progress and recommending changes, to ensure packing automation and works order quantity is maximised.
- Supporting and coordinating specific job-related improvement or compliance projects.
• To develop compliant, robust, cost effective and efficient technical packaging specifications by managing the internal and external specification approval and proof reading process, in conjunction with Commercial Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Suppliers, Packing, Quality and Engineering.
• To develop, track and control all aspects of packaging artwork production, proofs, changes and print specifications by:
- Co-ordinating with Commercial Operations and Regulatory Affairs to identifying artwork requirements and linkage to SKUs/BOMs, using the Ipsen Group Product Packaging Request Form (PPRF) procedure.
- Identifying and communicating the timelines, critical paths and key responsibilities for each PPRF project to ensure the compliant, timely, cost-effective approval of packaging artwork changes.
- Liaising with the Global Packaging Development Group, to prepare for the introduction of artwork designs and packaging projects at company.
- Inspecting, verifying and proof reading artwork, before and after artwork transfer by the printer.
• To coordinate and manage to coordinate effectively with external print suppliers in order to achieve timely product launches and minimisation of rework and wastage.
• To take responsibility for ensuring manufacturing site consistency with global packaging development requirements, by proactively liaising with global packaging development and complying with global process and systems for new and existing product introductions.
• To work with colleagues from other areas of the business (including Global Packaging Development Group, other sites, Commercial Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Quality and Engineering) to build proactive, effective cross-functional communication, and collaborative ways of working across the Group.
• To perform any other activities as may reasonably be required from time to time.
• To complete all of the above activities within the framework and in compliance with company SOPs and company policies, health and safety requirements, and regulatory requirements, participating in any Health and Safety training as required.
Candidate Requirements:
• Minimum: Over 1 year's packaging artwork experience / Ideal: Over 3 year's packaging artwork experience.
• Educated to A level or higher.
• Diploma in Packaging Technology or other recognised qualification desirable
• Previous experience and/or a manufacturing environment desirable.
• Knowledge of artwork origination systems for pharmaceutical labelling and packaging.
• Knowledge of external print supplier processes for the pharmaceutical industry.
• Knowledge of the pharmaceutical production / assembly processes and the supply chain.
• Good IT skills with demonstrable ability to effectively manage spreadsheets and databases.
• Proof reading experience desirable.
• Able to understand a wide range of technical issues.
• Have a sense of urgency and an ability to execute multiple tasks speedily and effectively.
