Key Responsibilities:
Briefs
• Taking a brief from Sales Rep and discussing the practicalities and possibilities for the product.
• Taking a brief directly from a customer, with or without a Sales Rep being present. Obtaining detailed information about their requirements and offering any appropriate input.
Design & Production
• Interpreting the brief in order to create a suitable product that meets the customer's requirements whilst being a viable product to manufacture, being aware of machine limitations. (eg sizes, folding, gluing and print issues.) Suggesting alternatives where appropriate.
• Discussing designs with manufacturers and making any changes deemed necessary to run through production processes.
• Selecting a material that is suitable for purpose.
• Producing a CAD drawing of the product.
• Creating logos and artwork for presentation samples and positioning onto cutter guides.
• Cutting and gluing samples.
• Creating repro-ready artwork for the manufacturer to produce finished products.
• Producing proofs for customer sign-off.
• Checking supplier proofs.
• Creating specifications for each product to be sent to manufacturers for quoting. Gathering in quotations and checking details are all correct before forwarding to the Commercial Department.
• Creating mood/picture boards for presentations.
• Liasing with Customers throughout the design process, directly or via Rep to ensure that the correct product is supplied.
• Liasing with Suppliers from placing the order through to delivery to ensure that the correct product is supplied and delivery dates are met.
• Co-ordinating matching items for larger projects. (eg napkins, cutlery packs, cups etc)
• Keeping spreadsheets of products for projects (eg Alpha).
Exhibitions
• Creating a theme for the stand.
• Designing and making exhibition stands, including display stands and back-drops.
• Sourcing and ordering necessary equipment/furniture.
• Creating innovative new designs and producing printed samples to be displayed.
• Putting up exhibition stands and displaying products.

Candidate Requirements:
• Bachelor Degree / Master Degree in Product Design / Industrial Design At least 3 years proven packaging knowledge and industry experience, preferably within the retail sector
• Good breadth of packaging and technical knowledge
• Either from FMCG, Retail or Packaging background
• Strong organisational, time management and prioritizing skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects to meet deadlines.
• The ability to communicate in an effective manner - be able to demonstrate ideas effectively through a range of mixed media
• Ability to handle a high volume of work at times, while maintaining quality and attention to detail
• Proven communication, interpersonal, leadership, and team building skills required
• Strong sense of business acumen, strong organizational and time management skills
• To be proactive / self starter
• Demonstrate a track record of innovative thinking and achievements
• Demonstrate history of product to market examples
• Ability to work to tight deadlines and on your own initiative
• Full competency in a range of the usual design related software, including Photoshop illustrator and AutoCAD
• Fully proficient in Microsoft Office packages, e.g. outlook, word, PowerPoint and excel
