Key Responsibilities:
• To ensure the development & production of packaging to support new product development, product relaunches and range extensions across the category area.
• To ensure development of display outers/ straight on trays to support product display at POS.
• To work with the Team to deliver packaging initiatives, including Plan A.
• Packaging developed and produced on time.
• Cost effective production and delivery of all packaging (on brief and to budget).
• Accurate information (including brief and technical packaging briefs) and samples conveyed to the Design & Production Planning team.
• Artwork and Repro produced in line with the agreed critical path and budget across the category.
• Good working relationships with, Design & Production Planning, the Pre-Press Partnership (PPP), product suppliers and printers.
• Accurate & signed off pack copy information against supplied technical specification, prior to artwork generation. Setting, agreeing and managing the critical path to ensure packaging is delivered on time & in the most efficient way.
• Managing the approval of design, artwork and repro to ensure the target Design Date is met.
• Initiating and controlling relevant aspects of packaging production.
• Managing the development of new pack construction & conduct travel test, considering all impacts such as Plan A.
• Collating all key information required for the Packaging Manager to complete/sign off the packaging brief & organise mock up samples where required.
• Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of packaging innovation developments and communicate with product developers/technologists on opportunities for inclusion.
• Examine marketplace competition on packaging, maintaining the comparative shop information. Informing the team of any major newness.
• Managing the artwork approval process to ensure the relevant personnel see and approve the artwork at each stage to avoid re-work and additional costs, ensuring a signed copy of the Artwork/Proof is kept.
• Challenge and manage suppliers to deliver the required standards.
• Ensuring the printers and PPP are kept informed of the design in order to identify any print or production implications.
• Record by range the cause & person responsible for post second artwork amends, against a budget adjustment. Quality standards of print & packaging for all products on shelf across the category, attending any key print runs.
• Monitoring packaging impact on operational guidelines.
