Position: Senior Packaging Technologist
Sector: Food
Location: Lancashire
Salary & Benefits: £35 - £45k
Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• To manage packaging development projects, liasing with R&D, operations, procurement and suppliers.

• Ensuring briefs are met (quality, fit for purpose, cost) and line performance is validated

• To manage packaging specifications and maintain the integrity of EMEA associated databases

• Timely completion of pallet plans.

• To establish packaging standards via factory trials to ensure that proposed packaging materials are fit for purpose (i.e. appropriate material/ components, acceptable quality, adequate performance and efficiency on packing line) and to gain approval from all relevant parties.

• Timely completion of packaging NPC workflow - NPC FERT; VERP; Halb as FERT.

• To manage CRP projects (supplier change or specification change) and initiate CRP ideas.

• To be involved in technical validation of new packaging equipment.

• Continuously seek the identification of new technology supporting the company's growth.

• Generate innovative ideas that will take advantage of emerging opportunities.

• Communicate technical information, opportunities and potential risks in business environment to facilitate effective decision making.

Candidate Requirements:

• 5 to 10 years packaging food industry experience

• Technical/Scientific background

• Good knowledge of packaging equipment and materials

• Good organisational skills (with a scientific / methodical approach)

• Good communication skills both verbal and written

• Excellent interpersonal skills- experience of working with cross functional teams at all levels as well as suppliers and customers.

• Multicultural experience

• Fluent in English, knowledge of French an advantage

• Drive for results and a sense of urgency.

• Thorough understanding of food industry, the competitive environment and emerging trends.

• High level of communication/presentation skills, ability to inform, influence, and negotiate across functions

• Ability to respond resourcefully to new demands and challenges within an ever-changing business landscape

• Meet a broad range of project requirements in the context of rapid commercialization requirements.

• Sustain a high level of competence within an ever-changing business landscape. Works cooperatively with other team members to implement new packaging

• Problem solving under tight time constraints is an on going responsibility within the Packaging Development team. Specifically, Packaging Development team works closely with Operations in resolving issues related to packaging commercialisation

• Demonstrates a sense of urgency and effectively analyzes and solves technical challenges with sometimes incomplete or ambiguous information
