Position: Packaging Technologist

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for the delivery of allocated packaging projects, in particular that of sustainability project .Packaging projects can be continuity of supply, cost saving or other improvements to current packaging formats. They can also be the creation of completely new packaging formats.

• To proactively work with suppliers to ensure packaging performance, also preventing and managing technical issues on existing packaging solutions.

• To support the Commercial and Quality teams with the management of Packaging Suppliers, whilst keeping the R&D team up-to-date with their development and performance.

• To support the overall organisation by providing technical expertise as relevant, especially in the area of sustainable packaging development and of product shelf-life

• To support Packaging Manager by:

  • Coaching junior members of the team
  • Driving engagement within the Drinks Team
  • Promoting a learning culture and continuously improving own and team's technical expertise

Candidate Requirements:

• Min BSc Degree in physical sciences (e.g. polymer science, materials science or chemistry) or engineering discipline.

• An FMCG background, preferably food or pharmaceutical, with experience in packaged consumer goods, introducing and validating new products and manufacturing processes.

• Recognised expert/specialist in either injection molding, thermoforming or flexible laminates.

• Evidence of leading and delivering large technical work programs with a cross-functional team.

• Proven track record of working with a multinational supply base.

• Demonstrated experience in process mapping with sound technical analysis of the control points for materials and/or process determined outputs.

• Demonstrated ability to include suppliers in the application of statistical tools and other skills (DOE, FMECA, 8D etc), thereby ensuring the implementation of best practices.

• Able to leverage interpersonal skills to form strong relationships and build networks.

• The ability to travel globally.

• Work Permit for the UK.

• Valid driving license
