Key Responsibilities:
• Develops packaging solutions that meet requirements outlined by the Marketing & Sales commercial team and works with Purchasing / Production and Technical to ensure products can be produced at the correct quality/cost
• Ensure the continuous development of packaging concepts
• Build strategic relationships with key suppliers / research organisations in relation to the development of packaging.
• Ensure new packaging structures/specifications are utilised
• Present product samples to customers with necessary supporting data.
• Manage Innovations projects autonomously & deliver knowledge gained back to Innovations group & commercial where required.
• Manage and report on preliminary production / distribution trials.
• Attend and assist in pre-production trials and new product launches.
• Keep abreast of all new industry developments & advise new ideas/concepts to sales/marketing and purchasing departments
• To provide technical support to technical/operations and purchasing when required
Travel:
• Frequent travel to factories / suppliers/ customers
Prospects:
• Good progression for this role, as the aim will be to grow this person into a Packaging Manager
Candidate Requirements:
• Ability to work under pressure for internal/customer commitments
• Technical/engineering background ideally
• Ability to trouble shoot
• Able to interpret requirements of packaging in relation to food and equipment.
• Relevant experience in the packaging or FMCG industry
• Proven ability to deliver new formats from concept development to full factory launch
• Creative, Enthusiastic, Drive to deliver
• Excellent communication & leadership skills, opinion respected.
• Ability to influence at all levels - factory floor to senior management
• Excellent team player, listens
• Able to make decisions / operate on own initiative
